Oatmeal and cherry pie is the ideal dessert when you want something sweet yet healthy. Oatmeal and whole wheat flour are combined with tart cherries, moderate sugar, and milk, creating a texture that balances softness with a slight crunch. This dessert is perfect for relaxing days, afternoon tea, or when you want something natural and uncomplicated in the kitchen.
A whole wheat flour and oatmeal pie can be made with frozen berries or cherries that you have in the freezer. And the combination of oatmeal and cherries is always a winning option.
Ingredients
- 1½ cup frozen sour cherries
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 3/4 cup whole wheat flour
- 1/3 cup flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1½ tbsp butter
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1 cup milk
- 2 eggs
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
Instructions
- Lightly beat the eggs with the sugar using a whisk or mixer on low speed.
- Melt the butter and let it cool. Add the butter, vegetable oil, and milk to the egg mixture. Mix with a whisk. Grind half of the oats into flour.
- Add the dry ingredients to the liquid ingredients. Gently mix the dough with a whisk.
- The dough becomes liquid.
- Line the baking tray with baking paper. Pour the batter into the pan and place the cherries on top.
- I dipped some of the cherries in batter. I sprinkled almond leaves on top of the cake.
- Place the pie in the preheated oven and bake at 180°C (350°F) for about 20 minutes.
- Decorate the top of the pie as desired. I just sprinkled it with powdered sugar.
