Instructions

  • Finely chop the onion. Fry it in vegetable oil, adding a little salt. The onion should not be fried until it turns dark. It should become slightly golden. Allow the onion to cool.
  • Mix the flour with the spices and baking powder. If you are preparing the dough with water, add half a teaspoon of salt. Then pour the water (brine) and vegetable oil into the bowl with the flour, then add the onion.
Mix the flour with the spices
  • Knead the dough and let it rest for 10 minutes.

  • Divide the dough into two parts: this will make it easier to work with.
    Divide the dough
  • Roll out each piece of dough into a rectangle with a rolling pin. If desired, you can sprinkle sesame seeds over the dough.

  • Cut the dough into thin strips. Place the dough strips on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake until done. I baked them at 170°C for 30 minutes. Your oven may bake faster if you increase the temperature by ten degrees. Open the oven after 15 minutes and check if the biscuits are ready.
