Finely chop the onion. Fry it in vegetable oil, adding a little salt. The onion should not be fried until it turns dark. It should become slightly golden. Allow the onion to cool.
Mix the flour with the spices and baking powder. If you are preparing the dough with water, add half a teaspoon of salt. Then pour the water (brine) and vegetable oil into the bowl with the flour, then add the onion.
Knead the dough and let it rest for 10 minutes.
Divide the dough into two parts: this will make it easier to work with.
Roll out each piece of dough into a rectangle with a rolling pin. If desired, you can sprinkle sesame seeds over the dough.
Cut the dough into thin strips. Place the dough strips on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake until done. I baked them at 170°C for 30 minutes. Your oven may bake faster if you increase the temperature by ten degrees. Open the oven after 15 minutes and check if the biscuits are ready.
The crackers are delicious when served with sour cream sauce.
